Our EM Portfolio Manager

John “JP” Matthews has worked in finance and investments for 30 years. JP began his career at Drexel Burnham Lambert in London where he worked in Drexel’s Fixed Income and High Yield Bond Divisions. JP’s team initiated and executed the first high yield bonds transactions completed in the European markets. After Drexel, JP worked for Merrill Lynch for ten years in London and NY holding leadership positions in research and bond trading in European markets and later emerging markets. After Merrill Lynch, JP worked at Morgan Stanley for 8 years in their Fixed Income and Emerging Market groups in NYC.

As a portfolio manager since 2009, JP has been responsible for managing balanced emerging market portfolios. JP has managed portfolios at a Mid Atlantic Capital Management, GEM Investments and now Benchmark.

JP has a B.A. from Colby College (1981) and an MBA from the Tuck School at Dartmouth College (1986). JP is married with two children and enjoys soccer, golf, and skiing.
